I had lawmaker apointment (in Rayburn building across the street from where the rally ended) after the rally. There were 10 Indians giggling at me. At first I thought they attended the rally. I was walking in their direction when their looks got weird and I realized they did not attend the rally!

Is there anyway we could go about pushing our story in the media? I am sure all of us combined have a a few thousand bachelor's, master's and ph.d. degrees. We are a group of people with highly advanced skill sets and this needs to be advertised. Maybe convincing a few journalists to take up our cause could be an option. Local newspapers, political blogs, radio stations etc. etc.

That said, from what I have been reading on talk radio shows, people are disappointed in general with the GOP - even with the pro amnesty position adopted by Pres. Bush, McCain, Specter, etc - and therefore want to give them a bad time. I don't think that was an endorsement for amnesty at all.

The reason we see progress year after year with Schedule A and nothing happens in EB reform because there is no corporate support for EB reform. This is one of the reaons why we should be open for measure like 485 whenever possible, even after febuary 15th.
Maybe we need to figure out how we can involve the corporations in EB relief. 1.3M backlogged cases TOTAL (includes naturalization), out of which more than 800K are retrogresed family-based AOS petitions, and what looks like 30K EB petitions (cannot be approved due to statutory limits). 300K cases in namecheck, maybe 10% of them are EB (EB is about 13% of green cards), so we are having about 60K truly backloged EB cases in March 2007.
We know that cases that are current and not stuck in FBI checks are being approved farily fast, so my gut feeling is they have maybe 50-80K EB cases in active adjudication. Let's double-check -- out of 1.2 million cases ready for action, about a half is naturalization, and from the other half, ~13% would be EB - yep, 80K (EBs are the easiest to approve because there are no interviews or tests, so the percentage is likely less than 13%).
So, in March 2007 there were a total of no more than 140K pending cases in I-485 stage of stocessing. Now in June-August EVERYONE who had an approved LC got to apply, and there were ~300K applications, while CIS gave out ~70K green cards, so we would have a total of 370K pending petitions. Again, I absolutely do not believe there are more than 500K EB1-EB3 cases. There may be another 500K in the 'other worker' category, but this is not what we are talking about here.
We can argue who is right on the numbers for a long time, The Ombudsman, who quote that they can not say for sure what the numbers are, or the kauffman Report who claim 1.1 million. Even if we go with your number of "no more than 500K" - thats a 3 year wait if there are no more country caps.
Also from the Ombudsman:-

Also, I got 5 strippers (sorry air hostess) to entertain me during the flight. Guys if you want to fly in my Private jet and avail all the facilities on board please call my dreamland office and speak to Ms. Fantasy and book up a ticket to neverland.

The other issue with sticking onto the current job is that the employer (if big corp) has a clause that says that you cannot work on any tech that you use in your job, external to the company. "Conflict of Interest" etc.
Open Source is a good avenue for IT people to keep their skillset current while doing good to the community.

I'm not anti-IV or anti-Core. I appreciate the work being done. I just posted my feelings on the way things work here, with the sincere hope that things can be improved. Definitely not for nitpicking.

Coming back to NumbersUSA, you'll find their views of every frigging piece of legislation in Senate and the House. Where's the IV analysis of STRIVE act? SKIL Bill? NU has a scorecard for every Congressman, what all they did etc. And here we are afraid to talk about what the lawmakers said , as if each one of them will be sponsoring a separate new bill to increase GC numbers for EB immigrants, and it will hurt if anti-immigrants learn of this plan!

Only possible way to know for them is how much active you are for a while. i dont think there are any specific paramters for that , it is a matter IV core getting convinced that u r serious enough. Not a day or two.. How long .. and how serious you are with ur ideas...
About funds .. none of the organizations declare their monetory dealings openly. There is a youtube video by logiclife on this. see it if u have not laready seen it.

When you say these are the " ONLY REASONS", you should think twice. If your wife delivered baby on that day or if you had back surgery a week ago probably you would not be been in DC for the rally. So please dont generalize anything.I am not sure if the most efficient way to motivate people is to write bunch of threads with the words like the four you used many times.

i did not receive my 485 receipt yet. However my attorney went ahead and has shipped a copy of approved I140 with a request for USCIS to associate it with my AOS application.

I thought this will happen. People will oppose the post and find faults in Logiclife instead of themselves. There are several people coming up with their 2 cent ideas on this thread asking what IV must do and plan. But none of them want to do that themselves.
I think this is the real reason for failure.
