Hi,
I'm on F1 visa and recently got married in US..I would like to have my lastname changed in my INDIAN passport.. I will apply for a new INDIAN passport through indian embassy in US..I realized that i will get a new passport with new last name...But my question is what happens to the F1 visa on the old passport and I-94, will they be still valid?...How does it work..what do i need to get them moved over to the new passport...
I know i will have to let my school know about the name change so that they can get me a new I-20 by updating the SEVIS...I've already done that and they are OK with it...

I am working on L1B and also have H1B (without I94) from another employer
I am filing L1B extension and H1B Change of Status at same time

Situation 1) My L1B Extensions paper with (I94) comes prior to H1B change of status paper (with I94),
which VISA will be applicable to me and my dependent spouse

Situation 2) My L1B Extensions paper with (I94) comes after H1B change of status paper (with I94),
which VISA will be applicable to me and my dependent spouse

My I-485 application was filed under EB3 category when I was working for my previous employer (PD - October 2006). I changed my job in August 2008, but never sent any documentation for AC21. I now have close to 8 years of experience and also a masters degree (MBA) from a reputed univeristy here in the US.

Now that EB2 dates are so close to October 2006, is there anyway I can port my application from EB3 to EB2? I can initiate this discussion with my current employer and may be able to convince them to help me. But I want to know exactly what needs to be done.

Hello Friends,
The situation is my GC application is ongoing, while I am presently working on EAD(based on husband's application). If I change my job, within the same company, and move from one job family to another(within IT itself), what is the impact to,
a) GC process
b) EAD

I would appreciate any advice.

My spouse is on H4 currently. Have applied for H1 in April 2007 and got the H1 aproved. So the new H1 starts on Oct 2007. However, we applied for 485 and got our EAD's (No recept number, No finger printing etc).

Can my spouse use EAD to start job? we dont want use that new H1 currently. What are the implications if we use EAD? Will the H1 (and my H1) be effected?

Search and you'll find your answer...

Using EAD will invalidate H1/H4 status...
You may file for H1 transfer later to revive your H1 status if needed...

I believe working on 1099 is allowed when you have the full time work on H1B going.

There are different types of 1099. 1099-Misc is not allowed. 1099-Int , 1099-G are the examples of allowed 1099s

Dear Attorney,

I am a July 2007 I-485 filer. Have an EAD but primarily working on H1B full-time as a Systems Analyst. I am a Certified Fitness Trainer but not sure if I can use my EAD to work as a Fitness Trainer in a local Gym (part-time).

HI, i filed for my sons GC with an i-130. i received an I-797C saying it had been approved n a priority date of 02/26/2004. we have been waiting for years now i just checked the priority date and its already past that if im reading correctly its now at july 04...i am a US resident. i called the NVC but the automated service told me they are still processing visas from 1999?? What should i do?? can anyone give me decent advice on this? Thank you...
