Here is the latest on H1B visa numbers, they now passed the 50K mark. U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced that it has now received approximately 48,977 H-1B petitions counting toward the congressionally-mandated 65,000 limit. USCIS also confirmed that it has received approximately 17,836 H-1B petitions for employees with advanced degrees from U.S. colleges and universities. The annual limit on H-1B petitions in the advanced degree category is 20,000.

Accordingly, USCIS is still accepting H-1B petitions under both the general cap and the advanced degree cap. We also continue to process H1B cases, but time is running out so in order to secure visas for this season employers must act now.

Well this came out of nowhere. Last night the Senate passed an emergency border enforcement bill that provides $600 million for increased security on the southern US border. The $600 million will come from raising fees on staffing companies. The fee will increase by $2250 for each L-1 visa application for companies that employ 50 or more workers if 50% of the workforce is on an H-1B or an L-1. I have been working as a consultant, due to the tight job market conditions I am not able to find my next contract in bay area, which was my current location when we filed I485 in Aug 2007. So, may be we got to relocate to other state say Texas. So, I was wondering what would be the impact of the move on our pending I485 applications after we change address using AR11 form. Should we avoid such move while I485 is pending?

Any Advice/Suggestions?

Hi

first labor approved in may 2006 under EB3
140 was approved in 2007

Since I already had masters before I joined the company
EB2 labor applied and received approval in Jan 2011

My attorney applied for 140 porting but received priority date as Jan 2011 instead of may 2006. My attorney says immigrations has made a mistake, attorney contacted them and received a reference number basically asking attorney to call back on Jun 1st. I'm concerned on what went wrong and what could be the worst case scenario. How much time are talking about here.

Any information will be greatly appreciated.

Dear Friends,

I am traveling to canada for a conference. My H1-B is stamped on my old passport valid till 2012. In January 2010 I obtained a new passport from the indian embassy chicago as my old passport was getting expired. I will be traveling with both the passports.

Is it mandatory to transfer the visa from old to new pasport ?

Hi All,
Now I have some questions regarding the process after getting Visa. I have read threads about airlines and medical insurance on this forum.

I was wondering if someone can shed light on finally what is a good medical insurance to buy, my father is 65 and mom is 60 and both have health issues.

Please let me know which insurance to buy which will cover their international travel plus stay in US

Also, please let me know which airlines are good for parents. I am east coast. My parents will definitely need assistance and I am also looking for someway I can have some travel companion for them. Please let me know if you have any suggestions. Thanks a ton.

I filed 485 last july and want to file EAD now. I had FP done last year. If I do efiling for EAD will I have to go to ASC for photos. I saw in other posts that they have linked Biometrics but what abt the photos ?

date: when your GC was approved (when I485 was approved). Place, usually you enter the name of service center that worked on your I485. For instance, Nebraska Service Center.

Hope this makes sense.
